A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux

Strange "time-travel" short story for #NoBrainerIFJam

You play as Ashley, a teenager who can talk to the dead.

Approx. 7k words, but 2108 of that count is just "VOID" over and over again. Around 40mins.

*** Flashing Images Warning *** Please don't play if you are sensitive to flashing images (if anybody wants me to I will happily make a non-flashing version, so just let me know)

*** Fantasy Drug Use *** Suggested for audiences over 17

(OK I took 2 roles which I don't think is really allowed, but it wouldn't have been the same without any art!)

Constraints used:

  • Include 2 or more speaking characters.
  • Avoid all gendered pronouns.
  • Use one of these words in the narrative. winklepicker

Notes (you don't have to read this bit) - This is set in the same universe as another game, For Ambergris, but you can play this stand-alone. Chronologically this game takes place after the events of For Ambergris. The choices made in For Ambergris can affect the ending of Void Id - depending on how many times you played For Ambergris - or something like that - otherwise there is 1 ending you can get.

(Please let me know if you want this on the play store - it can be done!)

I always welcome any feedback (positive or negative).

Install instructions

First unzip and then run "Void Id.exe"

You may need to look at the 'more' or 'advanced' options if your operating system or anti-virus filter prevent you from saving or running the files.
The game was coded by myself using the ren'py engine, so I know there are no viruses etc.

Android - If you're not familiar with sideloading apps then you may wish to first have a look online for the process so that you understand it before trying to install on your device.

Your games are certainly something else. They're enjoyable because they're so unique.

The most similar thing I can think of is Ramble Planet, though the gameplay style is different - https://andihagen.wordpress.com/2014/06/15/ramble-planet/

Thanks for sharing what you make!

Thank you very much for playing and for the kind comments! ^^
I will keep trying to release unique games!!
